Mostly for casual games, but some people I play with can get a little competitive so I'd like to be able to hold my own against them. At higher points I'll add some more units and Guilliman, but he's quite expensive for points.

Looks like a nice semi-competitive list. If you want to stay that level and not go into super-competitive level I'd avoid Guilliman. He's only worth it at around the 2k level otherwise you're spending too big a portion of your points on one guy.

Yeah most of our games stay at around points. More than that does tend to become more competitive; another reason besides the points that I'll only include Guilliman at 1.

Ultramarines Primaris- Second Company update (for sale)

I could fit Guilliman in points, but it would mean no Dreadnought, no grenade launchers and only one unit of Hellblasters, so his buffs will kinda start going to waste. He's more likely to see more play at points. I'll add another identical dreadnought, but give them both frag launchers. I'll also add a librarian and another unit of hellblasters to form a spearhead detachment. I could then drop the dreadnoughts for Guilliman.Belisarius Cawl and Roboute Guillimandeep beneath the surface of Marsoversee the final stages of development of the Primaris Space Marines.

The Chapters raised during this Founding consisted entirely of Primaris Space Marines who had been created entirely from a new stock of gene-seed -- crafted over ten millennia by Archmagos Dominus Belisarius Cawl -- as the supreme contingency plan and the ultimate defenders of the Imperium of Man against the darkness that now encroaches from all sides.

The Ultramarines Primarch Roboute Guillimanalways an optimist, but never a fool, had learned from the mistakes of the Horus Heresy.

How to Dominate Deployment as Ultramarines in 9th Edition

He had foreseen that the forces of Chaos would never relent in their aim to bring the Imperium of Man low. He anticipated that the threats Chaos and the xenos presented to Humanity would engulf the galaxy and knew that warriors resilient enough to stand against them would be needed as never before. Therefore, he set a task for the Priesthood of Mars : to develop a new legion of transhuman warriors -- the Primaris Space Marines -- who were bigger, more physically powerful and possessed faster reaction times than their original Astartes counterparts.

Developed by Archmagos Dominus Cawl on orders from Guilliman standard centuries past, the Primaris Space Marines were perfected by the Mechanicus during the long intervening millennia. Now, as the Imperium is poised on the brink of annihilation at the hands of its myriad foes, Guilliman's task is at last complete.

In the latter years of the 41st Millennium, the scattered Space Marine Chapters of the galaxy have been bled dry by ten thousand standard years of constant battle. With the advent of gigantic Warp Storms that swallow whole star systems, the formation of the Great Rift and constant attacks by the Forces of Chaos, rampaging xenos and more, the Adeptus Astartes are stretched thinner than ever.

With many Chapter planets now actively under siege, some Chapters are confirmed as destroyed or lost, and even those faring relatively well have suffered high casualties and are in desperate need of reinforcement. Finally, after ten millennia, he has put into action his ultimate contingency plan -- the Primaris Space Marines. These new warriors are the next step in the evolution of the Emperor's Angels of Death, genetically altered from their brethren to be bigger, stronger and faster.

The Primaris Space Marines represent timely reinforcements for the Imperium's armies as their enemies close in for the kill. This initial wave of Primaris Space Marines emerged from over 10, standard years of stasis fully psychologically indoctrinated to each fulfil a single strategic role.

Some were Intercessorssome Aggressors and so forth, and almost all specialised only in that one area of combat. These warriors were able to immediately take up their front-line combat duties with the expertise of veterans, and all possessed a modicum of additional skill with Machine Spirits thanks to their Martian heritage. Yet ultimately they were somewhat strategically inflexible, for they had not undergone the gruelling progression through their existing Chapters' companies or gained the wealth of experience that progress bestowed.

The rest joined the Indomitus Crusade as " Greyshields ," fighting together with the scions of other Chapters and Primarchs as part of the force known as the Unnumbered Sons until the Indomitus Crusade fleets reached their adoptive homeworld or the fleet of the Firstborn Chapters they were destined to join.

Each time such a momentous occasion came, another cadre of Battle-Brothers would peel off and reinforce the Chapter whose colours they wore and whose genetic heritage they shared.

Not all of these Primaris reinforcements had an easy time integrating with their erstwhile Firstborn brothers, but ultimately all brought fresh strength to the Space Marine Chapters fighting furiously against the tide of horrors vomited from the Great Rift.

The newly reinstated Lord Commander of the Imperium has decreed that those Chapters most devastated by the ongoing wars should be amongst the first to be reinforced with this new breed of transhuman warrior. Starting with the Ultramarines, but also deploying these new Space Marines to every other Chapter in need, Guilliman aims to reinforce the Imperium's scattered defenders across the galaxy.

It is not just as reinforcements to existing Chapters though. One of the most, if not THE most known faction, of Warhammer 40, You are beginning in the grim universe of Warhammer 40K? You are searching for a new cool project?

Primaris Space Marines

The Ultramarines are the most composed chapter of the Space Marines. The sons of the Primarch Guilliman, have seen 3 different evolutions in the 40K universe. One in the Horus Heresy, one after the near-death of Guilliman and one after Guilliman was brought back from his near-death experience.

In the Horus Heresy, we see them as the sons of one of the greatest tacticians that ever lived. More than that, they succeed at conquering, pacifying, and organizing planets and establish an empire never seen before.

These worlds are evolved, productive, politically active, and full of life. Possibly the best place to be as a human. All that thanks to the Ultramarine tactics and their father. After a giant war against his fallen brother Fulgrim, Guilliman is hurt by a legendary weapon that puts his life in jeopardy and is put in stasis.

Thankfully the Ultramarines are not only warriors. They are philosophers in the art of war. Ultramarine tactics balance two philosophies when making decisions: the theoretical and the practical. Their plans are well thought out in 2 levels by minds that see the world around them in these 2 angles.

Thanks to that, they adapt like no one else can. The loss of their father and leader is a big burden but they handled it like they handle anything else with courage and honor. Now the 40K universe is taking by storm because the favored son has come back to life after years and years in stasis. With Guilliman back from the metaphorical grave and the unleashing of the Primaris Marines, a project 10, years in the making, the Ultramarines see their numbers swell without any loss in their way of war.

Libras making a difference in the world

As I mentioned before Ultramarines adapt. Think of war in the same way they do. In theory, what can you do? What can your opponent do? What could be the objective? In what scenario of war are you gonna be thrust in? Then on the table, you move on to the practical part. In practice, is your gameplan still feasible?

Ultramarines are not stubborn.

Primaris Army List

They are courageous but the goal is always to win the war, not just the fight they are in right now. Always think ahead. Look at your army as a toolbox. Pick out the best tools for the best jobs while thinking of a backup plan. Therefore, every unit is useful in the hands of a son of Guilliman. They have access to a Chapter Master, Marneus Calgar, who is super strong and boosts his legion.Ultramarines have one specific ability to Dominate Deployment.

They are the poster boys of Warhammer but Iron Hands Bikers will also enjoy the new edition. Eternal War missions are those without the Maelstrom Cards.

Those are currently missing from the new edition. Deployment is alternating between players and their units. However, it is a separate Roll Off to see which player is going first. Since there is Alternating Deployment the need to quickly claim real estate outside of the deployment zone can be important.

This can be for both offensive and defensive reasons. Maybe you are trying to stop Alpha Legion from getting their pregame move. Or deploying so that you can secure space for your first turn Drop pod Deep strike. The largest single-unit footprint for doing this will be the Incursors or Infiltrators. A 10 man unit will have to do a Boe-Tie Conga line because of coherency.

The problem with the bow tie is when you lose a model and then take coherency checks more models will be lost.

Ryzen turbo boost

There are two solutions to this. Pick up 3 Phobos units and redeploy them according to the Deployment of the mission. After your Phobos Incursors or Infiltrators have done their Bow Tie Deployment, you can fix them pregame by redeploying them into a better coherency. Combat Squads are declared before you set the model up but in this case, you are setting them up again.

Either way, you can pull off a bait and switch. While this can be a fun tactical minigame, it has no bearing on the first turn. Not in regards to who goes first as that is another roll-off. There is no Seize the Initiative. Ultramarines have Rapid Redeployment. For 2 Command Points, you can redeploy up to 3 units Ultramarine Units. You can deploy aggressively. However, if you lose the first turn, it may behoove you to redeploy more defensively.

Imagine your Bladeguard Vets riding in an Impulsor. Sure they have an armored personnel carrier to protect them. So you can deploy as if you plan to rush in one direction and then move them to rush from another direction. That or deploy them to hide. In the past, the only reserve manipulation Ultramarines had was from unit Abilities or drop pods.

The last excluded Primaris units. With Strategic reserves, that is simply not the case anymore.

Remember Scions of Guilaman to count as stationary. A Repulsor Executioner could be in Strategic Reserve. When it comes in, it will still double fire.

That will make the big bucks. Big Bobby G got together with Belisarius Cawl because each heard the other liked Space Marines, so they put more Astartes in their Astartesand the end result was this next generation of the Emperor's fearless defenders of humanity. They are bigger, stronger, tougher and maybe smarter than all that have come before them big "maybe", though.

Shortly after the conclusion of the Horus Heresy, Guilliman predicted that another major Chaos attack on the Imperium might come at some point in the future. Though the Space Marines had proven themselves worthy defenders of Mankind, the Primarch foresaw that there might be a time where even they would struggle against the onslaught of the Ruinous Powers - because Roboute himself broke Legions in chaptersand those tend to have problems fighting Black Crusades against hundreds of thousands CSM the reason why Dorn declined Codex Astartes at first, being one of the few after the Scouring to suppose the Traitor Legions may be back one day.

But nowadays it turns out Guilliman knew about it as well - which makes the whole situation awkward to say the least. Ahem, in a frankly extreme show of just as planned though Guilliman probably didn't plan to be made Fulgrim's bitchour Spiritual Liege gained the aid of Archmagos Belisarius Cawl and began a program to create a new, superior form of Space Marines in secret over the next ten millennia.

To assist him, Guilliman gave Cawl a relic called the Sangprimus Portum- a device containing the purest samples of each Primarch's genetic material that outstripped even the gene-seed in its potency. The artifact was actually a Selenar construct originally named the "Magna Mater" which was used to create the original Space Marines, and was secured by the Sisypheum's crew from Chaos hands on Luna during the Siege of Terra.

Even after he was poisoned by FulgrimGuilliman's plan continued without anybody learning about it, and by the time of his revival, Primaris Marines were ready to be unveiled to the Imperium - the only thing needed was a sanction from the Primarch himself. In conjunction with the Ultima Foundingthere are now going to be entirely new chapters composed just of Primaris Marines as well, with some taking over the fortress-monasteries of extinct chapters.

In addition many chapters conveniently devastated by recent conflicts are also being reinforced by the Primaris joining their ranks. Some to the point that they essentially become Primaris chapters with the original marines becoming a minority in the ranks.

Standard marines can also be "transformed" into Primaris Marines. The first revealed to have gone through with this procedure was Marneus Calgar. However, the process, dubbed the "Rubicon Primaris" is also agonizing even by Space Marine standards, very difficult the description of it we have for when Marneus Calgar went through it has his entire body sliced open and briefly killed him in the process- they had to jump-start his heart to revive him afterwardsand according to Cawl himself it has a By and large, it's indisputably easier to make new Primaris from scratch rather than convert old marines, so expect the procedure to be mostly restricted to special characters with the necessary plot armor to survive it.

The introduction of the Primaris marines and the Rubicon Primaris has been controversially received by the current space marine chapters across the Imperium, with opinions ranging from enthusiastic to full-on hostility - Guilliman himself has referred to the Primaris as "Cawl's blasphemous hordes", not because he himself is distasteful of them quite the opposite, in factbut as a reference to how controversial their implementation has been to the wider Imperium.

Others claim they will breathe new life into many struggling chapters and an ailing Imperium. Primaris Marines don't get to select from a variety of equipment loadouts, but the equipment they do carry is designed by Cawlwho is shockingly competent, so they usually outgun their non-Primaris equivalents who tried to choose an otherwise identical loadout; this forces them to depend on other units to support them to fill in any gaps much like Eldar Aspect Warriors.

Apparently Guilliman and Cawl swapped notes with Sigmar when it came to organizing the Primaris forces. The Primaris of the Vanguard Space Marines are geared mainly towards guerilla warfare and infiltration; most of them wear the Phobos pattern armor Reivers wear, since it offers improved mobility with no loss of protection leading to the obvious question of why anyone wears the base Tacticus pattern. The only exception is the Suppressor, who wears Omnis pattern armor, which is effectively the Phobos version of Gravis armor, because Primaris Marines are so bad at using standard jump packs.

Crunch wise, Primaris Space Marines are about as physically dangerous as Space Marines are already supposed to be fluff-wise, so they get an additional Attack and an additional Wound; weapons which deal additional Wounds seem to be fairly common now, so while it might not be a big improvement it can still be helpful.

That they dual-wield. With jump packs. Finally, their squads don't mix weapon types, with all members carrying the same loadout; whether this will be a benefit or a downside relative to "standard" marines being able to carry a mixed loadout remains to be seen with the other new rules in 8th, such as the ability of any squad to split its fire across multiple targets. Most of the Primaris units so far also cost nearly twice as many points as their older counterparts and have unit sizes no larger than a 5 10 model maximum including the Serge.

This strongly suggests they will be more useful as a supplement to standard Marine forces than they might be as outright replacements; they're far too inflexible and expensive to be fielded effectively on their own, and their lack of melee specialists and access to weaponry with a range greater than 36" is a glaring flaw for now as well.
